Music Therapy

Music therapy provides an alternative route to individual therapy. It is a person-centred and interactive therapy which uses a balance of improvised music or sound-play and familiar music as a means for communication and personal exploration. Weekly sessions are tailored to a person’s needs. It is not necessary to be musical to receive music therapy and is suitable for adults and children alike. Using music therapeutically can help to transform a person’s outlook and view of themselves, help them to feel more connected to themselves and others, and feel settled within themselves.

The Music Therapy process can help a client to:

Process emotions

Maintain a relaxed state of mind and sense of well being.

Build self-confidence

Improve language skills

Improve motor skills
